2Wire HomePortal boosts broadband experience

San Jose, Ca - July 26, 2004 - SingNet, the ISP arm of Asia's leading communications group, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd ('SingTel'), has formed an alliance with 2Wire, a provider of broadband service platforms for the DSL market, to deliver home networking services to broadband subscribers in Singapore.

The ISP is packaging the 2Wire HomePortal 1800HW gateway product to subscribers of SingNet BroadBand 512kbps and 1500kbps ADSL Unlimited Plans. The HomePortal residential gateway allows several household members to share a single broadband connection and to network multiple devices, such as PCs, laptops or gaming consoles. Secure, high-performance wireless technology allows HomePortal gateway users to access the network from anywhere in the home or office, without cumbersome wires. The HomePortal gateway also enables networking over Ethernet, USB, or existing telephone lines (Home Phoneline Networking, or 'HPNA').

The home networking service is designed for any household or small business with more than one Internet user, from individuals starting home businesses, to couples with more than one laptop and a busy work schedule, or families with children that spend hours playing games on the Internet.

The alliance will provide SingNet with a platform for rolling out additional broadband services in the future, such as PC networked security, remote access home monitoring applications, and Voice over IP services; all of which can be remotely provided using 2Wire’s backend Component Management System (CMS).

The HomePortal residential gateway is available at a promotional price of $68 (inclusive of 5% GST) to new subscribers of SingNet’s 512kbps or 1,500kbps Unlimited Broadband plans.
